YSC has just had their 2017 Summit on March 10-11 in Oakland, California with almost 600 attendees. Due to your fundraising, 113 people were able to attend the conference cost-free or at a reduced cost with travel grants provided by YSC, as well as providing 152 registration fee waivers. YSC presented 4 general sessions and 28 breakout sessions to all those who attended. We had our first ever "Leaving a Legacy Half-Day Retreat for Young Women Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer" and many new information sessions such as pain management, pet therapy and talking to children about cancer.
The 2017 Summit was a huge success and it would not have been possible without you!
See below for quotes and pictures from the 2017 Summit.
- “I go every year. I LOVE being with people who "get it." The location was fabulous and I really enjoyed the chance to experience California along with the Summit this year. The sessions for long term survivorship were amazing - art journaling, writing, etc. LOVE!!”
- "I loved getting together with other survivors. I loved the location. Loved the Zumba and I loved hearing some of the speakers. I loved the survivors' care plan session. I loved that you tacked the environmental impact.”
- “I have never participated in anything regarding my illness; this was my first. The atmosphere was so supportive and lovely, I came back from it exhausted emotionally and physically, but I felt so loved. I am so happy that my mother (my primary caregiver) was able to speak to other caregivers. This whole thing was so helpful for me, I can't even express.”
